The new Danner Explorer 650 hiking boot caught our eye this week. This lightweight summer boot from long established Oregon boot company the could be the perfect summer boot for climbers.

Supportive and waterproof enough to get you to a high mountain crag and back in dry comfort, yet light enough to not be a burden when carried in your sack up a long multi-pitch route.  Or alternatively a great boot for when schlepping a large pad up those long midsummer approaches to reach the sanctuary of a cool high alpine bouldering venue. Anyone who's ever turned their ankle crossing a talus field wearing sneakers will appreciate that bit of extra stability.
